While Tommy might snub his nose as the fertilizing power of some fluffy bunnies, they are no joke. Manure from rabbits can be applied to plants without the required down time you need to let chicken manure compost for. When Grandma discovered this, of course she needed to a rabbit hutch. It’s starting to feel very much like the Give a Mouse a Cookie series around here with all her research.

How does one get Grandma to slow down on the farmers’ channel doom scrolling? Asking for a friend.

Anyway, if you’re wondering why we’re digging a hole to China, it’s because she saw a video (thank you, YouTube) about how someone buried a hardware cloth container, essentially, so their rabbits could burrow and be healthy and happy while still being contained.

And it worked. Until she decided she couldn’t kill the bunnies on account of their cuteness factor and set them free. Now, we have a meat-rabbit turned homestead pet that likes to test the fencing around our strawberries and vegetable gardens.
